The easy-to-trailer GLEN-L 19 features rakish styling enhanced by optional full length "black-out" side windows and long, lean lines. The beamy, hard-chine hull features a steel plate centerboard plus some internal ballast (steel pigs will suffice) and a large sail area for a combination of speed and stability. A feature that distinguishes this boat from our other designs is its lack of a centerboard trunk intruding into the cabin, thereby giving it a spaciousness seldom found in a boat of this size. The cabin has berths for four, plus room for a compact galley and head, all with sitting headroom.
The GLEN-L 19 cockpit is also generous in size, and self-draining. The easily controlled rig requires only a minimum of fittings, while light weight, sturdy plywood construction keeps costs low. The size of the boat makes it ideal for building and storing in the average garage. Auxilliary power can be provided with a transom mounted outboard up to 10 hp.
"It has been a long time in the making but she is done. If course DONE is a relative term. Cabin is not completed, but it makes a nice space to store the floats and other water toys. We have been sailing on Lake Murray a number of times and we love it. We are powered by a 6 HP outboard just to get in and out of dockage. She is stored dry on the trailer, but at the lake. The rigging and sails (we purchased the kit) all performed wonderfully. Ive already shed 100 pounds of ballast and it still tracks great. What a surrealist feeling sailing around in something that was just a pile of wood a few years ago. We get all kinds of folks that stop to admire her both in and out of the water. What a wonderful experience it was and is. There is no greater feeling, and it paid for. Thanks to the folks at Glen-L for their help and support." Darrell Stotts, Columbia, SC
