Why not build your own luxury "love boat"? Our MIRAGE is the perfect candidate. This floating home away from home offers accommodations for six in elegance and styling comparable to any production boat in this size range, at a fraction of the cost because you build her yourself.
You and your guests will revel in the luxury and privacy of two staterooms, each with queen sized double berths. Two additional guests can sleep on the huge deckhouse settee. Each of the two heads includes a roomy shower with built-in seat. So you'll be independent of shoreside facilities, there's space for a stackable washer-dryer. Storage space in the form of lockers, drawers, bins, and hampers abounds.
The huge deckhouse appears even more spacious and airy because of generous window areas. A wet bar includes space for a built-in ice maker, and there's a control station to starboard in case of foul weather. The large U- shaped galley, fit for a gourmet chef, is integrated with the deckhouse, yet out of view and out of traffic. There's space for a domestic-sized refrigerator-freezer, range, double sink, and microwave, with abundant shelf, countertop, and storage space remaining.
On deck you'll find wide open spaces suitable for just about any social activity. The huge aft sundeck has a ladder to the transom step for easy, safe boarding of the ship-to-shore dinghy. Wide walkaround decks allow safe access forward where two can soak up the rays on the double sun lounge. A convenient anchor pulpit makes handling ground tackle a snap. In fair weather, why not mix business with pleasure on the roomy flying bridge? With an unobstructed view, this is the ideal place to control the vessel while socializing with guests.
The MIRAGE offers more than deluxe accommodations. The bottom design includes a bulbous deep vee entrance to cushion rough seas, but flattens out aft for economy. A built-in full length chine deflector casts the bow wave down and out for a dryer ride while enhancing lift and adding stability. A long skeg aids tracking and improves handling in difficult wind and sea conditions. The beauty of full flaring topsides also provides reserve buoyancy and helps keep spray off deck.
While construction is aimed at the abilities of the amateur, this vessel is tough whether the hull is built in wood or fiberglass. Husky members reinforce all hull areas and are oversized where they support the engines and tanks. Wood hulls are planked with plywood strips or wood veneers in double diagonal format with a fiberglass sheathing recommended on the exterior. Fiberglass hulls can be built with our proven "one-off" methods using fiberglass planking or PVC foam core sandwich. Fiberglass covered wood and plywood are used for the deck and cabin in all cases.
Power can be provided for the full planing hull by twin in-line diesel or gasoline powered engines. The engine room has space for a high-capacity generator, and access is from the aft cabin or forward passageway step, or through the deckhouse sole for major work. Generous fuel and water capacities assure adequate cruising range. Doesn't this sound like the boat you've been dreaming about? Why not start living that dream now!
