Many who are building our classic mahogany runabouts RAVE about these fastenings for cold-molding. And they are great for other non-structural applications as well.
We recommend bronze fastenings in conjunction with composite. But for additional layers and veneers, these fastenings are a HUGE time saver! These composite fastenings only need to penetrate 3/8" into the wood you're fastening to. And the benefits continue...

We recommend the following tools...
"My favorite tool is still my Raptor nail gun glowing a bright neon radioactive brown epoxy color now after much loving use. Saved me countless hours pulling staples." Dave Lott, Riviera Builder

"I used the 15 ga. Raptor brads to fasten the two outer layers of 4mm meranti ply and the veneer layer. The first ply layer was fastened to frames and battens, etc. with 3/4" bronze square drive wood screws. The Raptor brad heads are almost invisible in the stained, epoxied and fiberglassed brightwork. I used around 20,000 brads so far in the completed hull. They are a great product. They hold steeply curved ply strips if you use enough of them."
"I must admit that I was not very fastidious about cleanliness of my Raptor nailer and got it very dirty with epoxy. Other than having to remove and clean the brad pathway cover now and then when hardened epoxy accumulated, it was entirely trouble-free and seems quite durable. Two hex socket screws hold the plate in place and cleaning is quick work. It looks very dirty now but works as well as new."
