Expansion is provided for in the plans for extra equipment without the worry of overloading your system.

There is also some educational material to help you understand proper wiring techniques and multiple notes on the schematics point out important features and items you need to be aware of. Note: A simple DC system is a minimal system you might use in a boat under 20 feet or a very simple power boat with only very minimal equipment such as a dayboat with no overnight capability. The power distribution will use a small fuseblock instead of a circuit breaker based panel. It will contain navigation lights (which may be an option for the boat), a bilge pump and some capability for engine instruments and a radio. The regular DC system is circuit breaker based and contains the wiring for a system that is useful for multiple day cruising with a complete equipment package.
