The KLONDIKE was designed to meet the demand for a larger version of our successful Argosy model. Here again it is virtually impossible to describe the myriad features of a vessel this large, so we have prepared a special Study Plan.

Because of the long waterline length and the easily driven, semi-displacement hull, the KLONDIKE can cruise 1300 miles on 840 gallons of fuel at a respectable 12 knots, with intermittent speeds of 14 knots possible. We have included the proven bulbous forefoot with reverse curve at the chine for easy entrance, plus flaring topsides to keep spray down and to prevent plunging. The bulwark goes entirely around the deck at full height to protect the full walkaround decks.

The accommodations of the KLONDIKE are equal to or better than boats half again her length. Her pilothouse is huge, the chart table is large and flat, and there's a watch berth as well. A pass-through to the galley makes the pilothouse dinette really practical. There's quick access to all areas, not to mention full circle visibility. Sensible skippers will appreciate our concern for privacy. Both staterooms feature private access and have private toilet rooms. In the Owner's Stateroom, the lavatory is conveniently located in the dressing area, separate from the head. As is our custom, no space has gone to waste. There are lockers, both large and small, plus drawers and shelf space just about everywhere. All berths are more than full size; in fact the owner's double is 66" wide. Up to 9 adults can sleep aboard.

The deckhouse is living room size and has access port, starboard, and aft. The galley work area is U-shaped for efficiency and the buffet houses a tremendous refrigeration capacity below. A folding table allows formal dining in the deckhouse, and there's space for a marine-type fireplace to take off the winter's chill. The deckhouse toilet room makes it convenient for the on-watch as well as for dockside use of guests and swimmers.

As with our other designs of this type, the construction is uncomplicated, but sturdy. Standard material types and sizes are specified. Construction is possible for the accomplished amateur or custom yard to any stage of completion. The Specifications and Equipment Listing are especially comprehensive and can be used by the professional yard to form a contract.

Hull type:
Semi-displacement, hard chine hull with practical cruising speed of 12 knots continuous and up to 14 knots intermittently. Bottom design features deep bulbous forefoot with reverse curve at chine.
Construction:
Triple diagonal cold-molded plywood to 1 1/8" net bottom thickness. Double diagonal cold-molded plywood to 3/4" net side thickness. Fiberglass hull construction optional.
Topsides:
Topsides feature broad flare fore and aft with full bulwark protecting walk around deck areas.
Power:
Single diesel motor of approximately 150 continuous shaft horsepower for speeds of 12 knots or 230 continuous shaft horsepower if speeds up to 14 knots are desired.
Reduction Gear:
Appropriate reduction gear is required, usually a ratio of 2:1.
Can the hull be extended or shortened?:
Extend: No. Can be shortened up to 10% by re-spacing the frames from the aft end of the stem to the transom a proportional amount. We do not recommend increasing the beam.
