It is difficult to fully describe a vessel the size of the ARGOSY in this small space. For this reason, a Study Plan brochure is available. A brief description, however, is possible. As can be seen, the ARGOSY is a traditionally styled yacht capable of extensive cruising in comfort. Her range and sea-keeping ability will appeal to the cruising skipper, while her simple, straightforward, but rugged construction will appeal to the amateur builder who wants more for his money.

The design features two cabin total privacy for the skipper and guest parties. Each double cabin features separate access, big berths, and complete bathroom facilities. The huge beam of the ARGOSY allows an abundance of locker, shelf, and storage space not found on most yachts this size. The pilothouse is equal to that on a 60 footer and comes with a centerline helm for full circle visibility, access to either side of the vessel, a large flat chart table, a settee-berth, and plenty of storage space for navigation equipment, charts, and foul weather gear.

The spacious deckhouse has large glass areas well sheltered by the boat deck overhang. The U-shaped galley is a model of convenience and efficiency. The freezer is located for outside access to ease loading, while the refrigerator is countertop mounted in an area usually wasted in most designs. The "chef" can mingle with the rest of the crew and yet be out of the traffic lane.

The dining bar allows everyone to view the scenery while eating, and gets away from those ordinary pain-in-the-neck convertible dinettes and folding tables found on other boats. A comfortable L-shaped settee coupled with a stereo cabinet makes deckhouse entertaining a pleasure.

The ARGOSY is a stay-at-sea vessel in all respects. Aft of the deckhouse is a roomy cockpit with provisions for an emergency tiller. Access forward is by way of wide walkaround decks. A ladder leads to a spacious boat deck complete with a mast and boom for easy dinghy and light cargo handling.

The construction is aimed at the abilities of the accomplished amateur or small custom yard. The ARGOSY can be built to any stage for later completion by the owner. The Specifications are of a type used by professional boatbuilders and can form the basis of a builder's contract. Materials used are rugged, but of standard sizes and types.
