Our ANDANTE design proves that you don't have to give up shoreside comforts or cruising capabilities or economy to have a true luxury live-aboard boat. Just look at the features our designers have incorporated into this modest sized vessel. The list of galley equipment alone reads like a residential brochure, including a large refrigerator, separate freezer adjacent to the pantry/bar, built-in washer and dryer, a trash compactor, double bowled sink, range and oven, microwave oven, and even a dishwasher! The spacious deckhouse includes a long settee which converts to a double berth, a big drop leaf table for dining along with two occasional chairs, plenty of window area, and a fireplace with fuel storage below. For indoor-outdoor living, sliding doors open up onto a large covered cockpit area having direct access through a transom gate to the transom swim step as well as to the ladder leading to the boat deck.

Up forward, ANDANTE provides private accommodations for two couples. The Owner's stateroom forward is truly sumptuous, including a full size double berth complete with end tables each side, a huge hanging locker, and direct access to the toilet room. The Guest's stateroom to starboard also features a big double berth, plus dressing table, and a large hanging locker. The toilet room to port includes a separate compartment that can be fitted out as a tub or shower with a built-in seat. The pilothouse runs full cabin width with massive expanses of windows, and has a large area for charts and navigation equipment, as well as a good sized observation seat. Doors port and starboard give quick access to the side decks as well as to the ladders each side for access to the boatdeck and flying bridge control station.

But what about cruising capabilities, you say? ANDANTE has generous tankage by virtue of integral dual tanks each for fuel and water, plus a 215 gallon waste holding tank for a generous cruising range. Power is provided by a modest sized single diesel engine driving a large propeller for efficiency and economy. The underwater gear is protected by a long, deep skeg that supports the rudder as well. A large capacity generator can be used for all electrical requirements, and when connected to a power take-off, provides emergency power in the unlikely event of engine failure. Emergency steering provisions are also available in the event of a steering failure making either one of the helms unusuable. For ship-to-shore use, an 8' dinghy can be carried on the boat deck.

For safety at sea, ANDANTE features all-welded steel hull construction. A watertight collision bulkhead separates the chain locker from the cabin area, and all windows are glazed in polycarbonate plastic, a virtually unbreakable material. Numerous opening ports and hatches, together with cabin doors, assure a positive flow of ventilation throughout the living spaces. Decks and cabin sides are also of steel, while cabin tops are plywood covered with teak or fiberglass sheathing overlays. The hard-chine hull features generous flaring topsides and a built-in spray rail forward for a dry, buoyant ride. The bottom lines flatten out aft into a long run made possible by the transom step extension for a good turn of speed with exceptional economy. Directional stability is assured because of the long skeg, however, close quarter handling is much like twin-screw boats since the forefoot is relieved and the rudder area is generous. Construction plans include a Table of Offsets, however, the Full Size Patterns provided eliminate the need for lofting. The hull lines have been specifically developed for sheet steel material so that plating is simplified.

COMPLETE PLANS plus FULL SIZE PATTERNS for stem contour, beam cambers, and half-section patterns for all station frames, plus steel detail sheets, Steel Boatbuilding Guide, and Table of Offsets.
