Sea Angler

Our SEA ANGLER design is often referred to as a convertible; that is, a boat suitable for both cruising and sport fishing. For the sportfisherman, look at all these features:
Huge self-draining cockpit close to the water for easy landing of the catch, made more handy with an optional transom door, and flush coamings with optional thigh padding

Space for one or two fighting chairs, including a bait prep area with sink and top-loading freezer, plus a large fish box

Spacious flying bridge with the helmsman in full view of cockpit activity, comfortable lounge seat for passengers, and plenty of room for the latest in electronics gear.

For cruising, SEA ANGLER sleeps six in three cabins with generous headroom throughout. The two staterooms each feature a hanging locker, shelves, and seat for easy dressing. The light and airy deckhouse includes an optional inside control station, fully equipped galley, and settee which converts to a double berth. Tables which hinge out of the way are used for dining, while the area above the aft stateroom makes a huge chart table/navigation station. The fully equipped toilet room includes a shower and plenty of storage space, while the engine room is directly below the deckhouse through hatches in the sole.

SEA ANGLER features an efficient tri-mode hull design practical for use in the three speed ranges of displacement (as during trolling), semi-displacement (for economy with speed), or full-planing operation when one needs to get to the fishing grounds in a hurry or to outrun foul weather. Normal speed range is 14 to 17 knots, with speeds up to about 27 knots possible with sufficient horsepower. Generous tank capacities allow extended cruising range, and there's space for a good-sized generator so you can have all the luxuries of shoreside living aboard. Twin gasoline or diesel in-line engines assure reliability and nimble handling, while a long, deep skeg provides positive directional stability in difficult sea conditions.

SEA ANGLER has a hard-chine hull form with spray strakes, raised sheer, high freeboard, and flaring topsides forward for dry running and added lift in rough seas. The bulbous convexed deep vee bottom forward cushions the ride, while the modified vee at the transom and flatter sections aft provide a rock-stable platform so desirable for fishing, crew comfort, and fuel economy.

Building SEA ANGLER is straight forward for the more advanced do-it-yourselfer using either wood or fiberglass for the hull construction. Wood methods consist of multi-layered diagonal cold-molded wood veneers or plywood strips laid over a framework of longitudinal members and sawn transverse frames spaced several feet apart. No steam bending or difficult woodworking operations are required. Fiberglass methods include the "one-off" systems using sandwich core materials or the fiberglass planking method. Either wood or fiberglass hulls result in strong structures that are light in weight for economical operation with reduced maintenance. Cabin construction in all cases is of wood/plywood composite for simplicity, strength, light weight, and low cost. FULL SIZE PATTERNS eliminate the job of lofting, and all versions include instructions with hull material listings.
