The all-steel AURORA hull packs an amazing amount of accommodations in its modest length. This is a boat that will go just about anywhere and has the displacement necessary for all the gear one would like on a long voyage. The layout features berths for six, a complete head and galley, plenty of hanging space and storage lockers, and a main cabin that will handle the whole crew for dining and socializing. We've even worked in a nice navigator's station with hinged chart table and space for related gear.

To make long range cruising practical, there's plenty of fuel and water capacity from the built-in integral tanks. For safety, the hull features a long keel with internal ballast in the form of a concrete/scrap steel mix for low cost. The chain locker and cabin area are separated by a steel watertight bulkhead. The engine is located aft (preferrably a diesel), connected by a v-drive. Access is convenient through the cockpit hatches or from inside through the removable ladder.

The AURORA features a multi-chine hull for ease and speed of construction, well within the abilities of the amateur who will build a steel yacht. Our Full Size Patterns further simplify the construction; a Table of Offsets is provided for those who want to do their own lofting. Numerous detail sheets together with comprehensive plans, complete with our construction manual, take the guesswork out of the project and let you build a super-strong boat for far less than you would imagine. COMPLETE PLANS include FULL SIZE PATTERNS for the station frames, beam cambers, and stem contour, plus steel detail sheets, STEEL BOATBUILDING GUIDE, and Table of Offsets.
