Why pay a 6-figure ransom for production tug yachts when you
can build our NORDCOASTER for a fraction of the cost?
Compare features: Double stateroom, enclosed head and shower,
roomy pilothouse with side deck access both sides,
self-contained galley, wide convertible dinette, lots of
tankage, roomy cockpit, dinghy boatdeck, plenty of storage,
and more!
Construction in plywood or welded aluminum is well suited to
do-it-yourselfers. Plywood hulls with straight transom use a
double diagonally planked bottom (3/4" total thickness)
and 1/2" sheet plywood sides. Aluminum hulls use
straight or radiused transom, with .160" sides and
.188" thick bottom.
Power options include single centrally-located inboard or
stern-mounted I/O. Speeds from 6 to 18 knots are possible,
within a power range of 25 to 155 HP. And assuming a wide
load permit with a suitable tow vehicle, trailering
NORDCOASTER is an option that can save slip fees and
broaden your choice of cruising grounds (I/O option
recommended for trailering).
The easily-driven semi-planing hull features a deep-V
forefoot and ample freeboard forward for an easy, dry ride.
Bottom lines transition to a modified V aft for economy and
stability. Keel options include a long, deep skeg
(recommended where ultimate top speed is not critical), or an
abbreviated shallower skeg where optimum speeds or I/O motor
are desired.
FULL-SIZE PATTERNS are provided for all frame member
contours. Plans include instructions and hull material
listings, and fastening schedule for wood hulls.
