Blistering sunshine or torrential downpours won't keep
you from running your favorite whitewater rivers aboard our
CANYON CRUISER. A hardtop cuddy cabin with full
standing headroom protects you from the elements, but
includes a removable soft-top sunroof that's great for
standing at the helm when extra visibility and ventilation
are required. And it makes passing through to the forward
cockpit a breeze.
An inboard motor driving through a jet pump or I/O is located
below the raised aft deck, making the perfect fishing perch,
and with ready access to the transom swim step aft. Plus
there's plenty of fuel to get you where you want to go
and back.
While ideal for the big fast-moving rivers out west, CANYON
CRUISER is also suited to other waters that can kick up a
fuss, whether on oceans or lakes. Depending on your needs,
plans include two V-bottom options. For ultimate speeds or
where draft is a concern in shallower waters, pick the 6
transom vee (12 bow entry). For more open waters or bigger
rivers we recommend our 12 transom vee (20 bow entry). Both
options are a part of the plans. In either case, the beamy
hull has generous depth for safety and dry running. And
options on the plans make it easy to vary boat length within
the limits noted.
Plans are available for either sheet plywood or welded
aluminum construction. Plywood hulls total 1/2" bottom
and 3/8" sides over a husky framing with fiberglass
sheathing on the outside. Aluminum hulls have 3/16"
bottoms and 1/8" sides over transverse frames reinforced
by standard extrusion longitudinals. Either hull includes
plenty of rub rails for protection against bumps and scrapes.
With available FULL SIZE PATTERNS for frame member outer
contours, NO LOFTING or re-drawing hull lines is required.
Instructions with material listing assure professional
results even if you've never built a boat before.
