A 16' rowing dory

Our DORY is ideal for launching or landing through the surf in coastal areas, or for rowing across any reasonable size body of water. The relatively narrow bottom makes rowing easy, while the wide flaring sides make the boat dry and increases the reserve bouyancy.

The dory-type boat has been in existence for hundreds of years. Fishermen the world over have used dories in all weather conditions. Our modern DORY is much lighter in weight and virtually leakproof in contrast to the craft of yesteryear. The lightweight but durable plywood hull adds a new dimension to the classic dory.

The construction has purposely been kept simple. The boat is built bottom side up, with simple molds made from scrap material. These molds are discarded when the boat is finished, leaving a "stress-skin, monocoque" boat. This method not only simplifies construction, but provides a smooth uncluttered interior. The construction of the DORY should be within the realm of almost any handyperson... and it won't take long to put together.
