a 14 1/2' outboard cruiser

Our JACKKNIFE is a brawny boat not to be confused with lesser "feather weight" craft in this compact size. This boat was designed for the person who does not want to sacrifice strength, durability, and riding comfort for light weight and small size. The hull features performance and handling characteristics usually associated only with craft much larger and heavier.

The JACKKNIFE features a true full length deep vee hull with a radiused keel section and minimum 16 degree vee at the stern for as smooth a ride as possible in a boat this length. Critically located lift strakes deflect spray at the chine and lift the hull quickly onto a plane with minimal power. Wide beam and full length flaring topsides assure a stable, dry ride. Yet this is a nimble boat ideal for all sorts of watersports including fishing, diving, and water skiing.

Often referred to as a "pocket cruiser", JACKKNIFE includes a cuddy cabin with sitting headroom, two berths, space for a compact portable head, and a deep, safe, cockpit. Power comes from a single outboard (20 hp recommended minimum), although twins can be used optionally as long as maximum power is not exceeded. Plans include instructions well suited to the first time builder, and the Full Size Patterns make building fast and easy. Although complete details are provided for the cabin, the use of our Full Size Cabin Patterns makes this part of the project even easier. Standard 4' x 8' plywood sheets can be used throughout, and no difficult wood working operations are required.
