The following copy appeared in our 1957 catalog: L DORADO is one of the most advanced styled modern boats available to the amateur builder. From the fantastic, ultra-modern, flowing hull lines aft to the sweeping "tails", the illusion is given of speed, of poetry in motion. A hull designed with an exceptionally wide beam and proven performance. The tails not only set a new styling standard, they also prove functional in deflecting spray away from passengers and motor. The split-back front seats allow quick and easy access between cockpits. Note the wide barrel bow that insures the wide generous deck line that gives more than average flare. All these features make L DORADO a leader in both the style and performance parade.

Due to the new design features, we built a prototype for this design. Only after the hull construction methods and performance had been checked completely did we feel confident that we could develop a set of plans and patterns that would enable the amateur to build to build the hull just as we did. In addition to our standard patterns for stem, breasthook, transom knee, transom, and frames, we have included construction photos of the L DORADO, illustrating the complete step by step instructions. A bill of materials and fastening schedule is included in our complete package allowing you to duplicate this construction and performance tested boat.
