As the name implies, our TOPPER can be carried on top of almost any vehicle, making it easy to transport to any boating area. It's lightweight, and the free standing sail rig is easy to set up and remove. With a small outboard or oars, the TOPPER makes an excellent fishing boat or ship-to-shore dinghy for a larger cruising boat.
Building the TOPPER is relatively simple, using standard 1/4"x4'x8' plywood panels. There are no permanent frames in the boat; temporary forms used during construction are later removed. The multi-chine hull features attractive lines with just a bit more fitting required than on the typical single chine hull. Plans come with full instructions as well as a material listing and fastening schedule to make it an easy and speedy project. We offer the convenience of kits for fastening, fiberglass covering as well as sails, hardware/rigging, and aluminum spar.
