The interchangeable rig of the GLEN-L 11 permits sailing the boat as a cat rig with single mainsail, or as a sloop rig with main and jib sails. The same spar and rigging are used in both cases. The round bottom hull construction makes light air performance especially good. This characteristic also makes rowing a pleasure if you don't want to sail. A lightweight outboard motor can be used, if you desire. The GLEN-L 11 has beauty of line and character that will impress even those with an eye only for traditionally built boats.

However, the method of construction is far from traditional. The GLEN-L 11 is built using the structurally sound and lightweight sandwich core principle. Inexpensive white pine boards are sawn into thin strips and bent in place over temporary forms. This is then covered with two laminations of fiberglass, removed from the form, and the inside is covered with fiberglass forming a "monocoque" or one-piece hull.

After researching this method and building and designing the prototype, we tested the boat for nearly one year under all conditions. The results proved that this boat is rugged, lightweight, requires little maintenance, and that the method of construction is suitable for amateur building. The instructions provide numerous photos of the actual building methods so your GLEN-L 11 will turn out as designed.
