In the past...before plywood, there were a variety of different "skimmers" being built using wood planking methods. Because of their weight (300 to 400 lbs.), they were not great performers. The GLEN-L 10 can rightly be called a "performance boat". This is possible because of the superior strength/weight properties of plywood construction.
The GLEN-L 10 requires a minimum investment, and she's easy to build. No building form is required and all materials are used with a bare minimum of waste. Whether building from a Frame Kit or Full Size Patterns, construction is quick and simple, even for beginners.
The GLEN-L 10 is very lively under sail, points well, and is highly maneuverable. The lightweight hull fits easily into most vans or pick-up trucks, or can be car-topped. All aspects of the design, from rigging to sailing, have been kept simple, making this the ideal sailboat for the beginner on a budget. The instructions and construction photos explain all phases of building. To save you time, money, and effort, we have made available various kits for the GLEN-L 10 which allow you to outfit the boat just as we did on our prototype.
