Velvet Drive Hydraulic Transmissions
A 1:1 (direct drive*) hydraulic transmission that can shift from
forward to neutral "finger-tip" easy with virtually no noise. It has
forward, neutral, and reverse positions. Order the Model-71 gear for motors up
to 355 cu.in. and the Model-72 for motors up to 500 cu.in. For a complete
adaptation to an automotive motor order the following: Bell Housing (to suit
motor), Drive Plate, Oil Cooler and Hoses, and Propeller Shaft Flange.
Uses oil type: GM Dexron III, Ford Mercon, Daimler-Benz 236.6 or any SAE 10
hydraulic oil that meets Allison Type C3, Caterpillar TO-2 or equivalent
specifications. Oil capacity: 5 US quarts (4.9 liters).
Some high performance applications may result in foaming and leakage from
transmission's vent. Under these circumstances, Velvet-Drive suggest using
oils meeting Allison Type C3 or Caterpillar TO-2 specifications. In addition,
it may be necessary to experiment with fluid level in these applications.
