The MAI TAI is a versatile blue water sportfishing and
recreation boat with exceptional speed potential when the going
gets rough. The boat has a full length deep vee hull that makes
the ride smooth and dry even in choppy conditions. The keynote
of the design is the large cockpit. Imagine a cockpit over
6' in width and nearly 11' long. This size affords
plenty of room for recreation, fishing, or scuba diving, with
room for all the gear. The range is ample due to generous fuel
and water capacities.
The forward cabin has berths for two plus a galley and space
for a head below the berths. The helm position is well protected
by the windshield and side wings, and the entire cockpit could
be used for extra sleeping if desired. A folding top can be used
to protect the cockpit area.
The bulkhead type of construction used on the MAI TAI is very
sturdy and yet easy for the amateur to build. You can build your
own MAI TAI at a fraction of the cost of factory built boats and
your MAI TAI will be every bit as good or better than one you
might buy.
